Hi,
I am visiting relatives in Denver in July and want to hire a motorbike for 6/7 days. I ride a Triumph America at home (UK) and would ideally like to do the same on this trip, (or a Thunderbird.) Is this possible? If not, what HD is the nearest to ride in terms of style and feel?

The closest we have a Thunderbird to Denver is actually Chicago, and we can do one-way hires so you could pick up the bike in Chicago and drop off in Denver. If that’s not an option, we’d recommend a Road King. We absolutely love these bikes, they handle superbly and have a magic road feel. They’re a bit bigger than the Triumphs, but the weight is down low and you get used to it fast. My friend and I intend to travel from Houston to San Francisco and from there until Ancourage – Round trip with our wives.
We are from Brazil and we traveled mamy times in South America, to Patagonia (2 times), to Atacama (2 times) and to Matchu Pitchu (once). Long travels!
Our bikes here in Brazil are BMW GS800F and BMW650GS.
We intend to be travelling for a month.

I am from India, experienced in doing 15 day rides. Currently planning a ride from LA to NY (via MI, NC, KS etc). I ride a Honda CBR600RR but prefer a relaxed ride. Dates are from Dec 12-13, 2017 to Jan 04, 2018

Riding to New York in December and January is not recommended as the temps may well be below freezing with a strong chance of snow on much of the route.
I would recommend May at the earliest.
